LZA Associates' Advanced Technology Group (A Division of The Thornton-Tomasetti Group, Inc.) specializes in the complete design of telecommunications and telecommunications related projects. Our multi-disciplinary group is comprised of architects, civil, structural and MEP engineers capable of serving client needs from site selection through commissioning phases of a project. In the rapidly expanding telecommunications market, the need to maximize capacity and speed the delivery of network infrastructure while maintaining a flexible, reliable operation has become increasingly important. The performance of a network facility, comprised primarily of the equipment environment ("served spaces") and the systems required to create and maintain that environment ("served spaces"), can be measured in two ways. The first is the efficiency of the HVAC and power-distribution systems that maintain temperature, relative humidity and sufficient primary and stand-by power. The second is the efficient planning and arrangement of served and service spaces to optimize the functionality of a network facility. In accomplishing the first, conditions are created to ensure the reliability and survivability of the served environment. In accomplishing the second, the amount of network equipment is maximized, resulting in added capacity, increased revenue and improved cost effectiveness. LZA Associates' Advanced Technology Group takes a balanced design approach when developing a network facility, emphasizing in-depth programming, efficient space planning and effective engineering design. Our primary objective is to understand the functional purpose of every facility we design to ensure that we satisfy the physical needs of a 24-hour, 7 days-a-week telecommunications operation.
